My heart cried of sorrow when I read an article in The Star today.

"Second turtle bust in 24 hours

KOTA KINABALU: An international turtle-poaching group was busted and nearly 260 protected turtles recovered after a China trawler, with 17 crew, was seized in Malaysian waters yesterday.

The trawler was hauled to the marine police jetty here and attempts were made to save at least 20 of the turtles found alive. The rest were dead. Three sharks were also among the catch.

This is the second time within 48 hours that the marine police have waylaid trawlers from Hainan province in China poaching valuable Hawksbill and Green turtles within Malaysian waters.

A small Hawksbill is worth about RM1,000 and its shell can be made into spectacle frames and other accessories. Green turtles are valued for their medicinal properties.

On Monday, 19 crewmembers of a China-registered boat were arrested off Pulau Mantanani Kecil and 78 turtles recovered. Five were still alive.

All crewmembers are being detained by the Fisheries Department for encroachment.

The latest arrests, according to Sabah marine police chief Asst Comm Sueb Abdullah, came about when police spotted the trawler about 17.5 nautical miles from Pulau Mengalum and detained it following a high-speed boat chase that ended with warning shots.

“This is a serious offence. Not only have they encroached into our waters, they were catching internationally protected turtles,” he said, adding that the crew were aged between 20 and 55.

The turtles would be handed over to the Fisheries Department. "

I hope the genitalia of all 17 crews (and those involved) shrink and drop off their groin. Or as SugarHigh would do: cut their testicles, barbeque it and feed it to them.

Ok lah maybe I shouldn't be that cruel. Just castrate them would be enough.
